I chose to visit the Saint Louis Holocaust Museum for my independent field trip on April 6, 2016 to get out of my typical comfort zone and learn about a specific group of people that endured the largest genocide in recorded history. Upon entering the building, I was shocked to see the number of uniforms and other items that were recovered from World War II. This was the first thing that really set the tone for me and put me in the right emotional state to think about the fact that these are real families and children that were murdered simply because the Nazi’s wanted to. A few of the numbers that really shocked me include, at least six million Jewish were killed, thirteen percent of the population of Russia was wiped out, and a grand total of seventy to eighty-five million people were killed in WW2 (3-4% of the world’s population). The Holocaust was initiated based on the premise that Jewish people, mentally/physically handicapped people, and a few other smaller people groups were all inferior to the Aryan race as described by Adolf Hitler. However, this topic is important because it can lead to finding treatments that may be more effective for patients with DID. Past studies have shown that the main treatment for Dissociative Identity Disorder usually involves therapy. The most popular types of therapy are psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, and family therapy. Treatment for DID has a specific purpose which is to unite an individual with their personalities, and form a functional identity (Pais, 2009). Additionally, a strength of past studies is that they usually do a follow up on patients. Another strength is that the participants are usually all of different ages. My Personality I took two personality test and scored what I think is pretty accurate. The first test I took was created by a church but still accurate in the psychology field. By taking this test it would help you figure out if your personality is one of the four types of people. The four types are choleric, sanguine, phlegmatic or melancholy. Choleric is in short words adventurous, determined, outspoken, and strong willed. Next is Sanguine which is playful, sociable, lively, and imaginative. Phlegmatic is said to be thoughtful, adaptable, attentive, and controlled. Last is Melancholy which is detailed, orderly, persistent, and deep. On this particular test I took a series of questions and gave an answer that best fitted me. In doing so I found that I have a primary and secondary personality. My primary personality was Phlegmatic which means I’m relaxed and chilled out so to speak. My secondary personality was Choleric in term means that I’m kind of commanding but li ke to get the ball rolling. The next test that I took was the Myers- Briggs Preference Questionnaire.
